Treating the audience to a stirring stage effort, Rihanna joined forces with Jennifer Nettles at the 46th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards.
Held in Las Vegas on Sunday evening (April 3), the "Rude Boy" songstress and her Sugarland gal pal brought an undeniable energy as they offered up a rendition of a song by the name of "California King Bed".
Talking about bringing Rihanna on board for the ACMs, Executive Vice President of Specials, Music and Live Events for CBS Entertainment Jack Sussman dished, ?We had worked with Rihanna [at the Grammys] and listened to some of her new music while we were together in Los Angeles and she played us this one song, and when we heard it our first reaction was, ?did someone in Nashville write that???

Sussman added, "It sounded like one of these great country songs that she put her spin on. Jennifer was looking for a duet partner, we put them together and when you put two great artists like that together great things will happen and you?ll see it Sunday night.?

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley Calls 'Transformers' Gig 'A Roller Coaster'

'Transformers: Dark of the Moon' star talks at CinemaCon about working with director Michael Bay.By Kara Warner, with reporting by Josh Horowitz

Now that we've entered the month of April, it seems justifiable to start hyping this summer's potential blockbusters. Not that we haven't been already, but it feels like the big summer movies are just around the corner — one of those being the highly anticipated "Transformers: Dark of the Moon."
MTV News caught up with the franchise's new leading lady, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, recently at CinemaCon to discuss her experience on the film and getting caught up in director Michael Bay's workaholic web.

"I've seen the last two movies, so I kind of knew what I was getting into, but obviously not at all as well," Whiteley said of being a bit overwhelmed by the big movie experience. "It was a crazy opportunity that was handed to me, and I spent seven months making the movie with a great cast and a great director, and it's been a roller coaster of a lifetime for sure," she said. "I'm still on it, I don't know if I'm going to get off anytime soon."
Regarding Bay, Whiteley described him as a "character" with lots of energy: "I think throughout my whole career, I've never seen anybody work so hard in my whole life," she said. "He's literally done these 'Transformers' movies for six years now. As cast, we do the filming for seven months, then he goes into the edit room and edits it for six months, then he comes out of the edit room and promotes it, and by the time he's finished that, he's prepping the next one," she explained. "It's amazing to see how dedicated he is to these films."

LCD Soundsystem Talk Retirement Way Back In 2007

On the eve of their last-ever gig, MTV News unearths our last interview with James Murphy, who was already contemplating hanging it up.By James Montgomery, with reporting by Christopher "C.J." Smith

LCD Soundsystem's James Murphy in 2007

Photo: MTV News

In February, James Murphy announced that he'd be retiring his LCD Soundsystem project with a massive three-hour show at New York's Madison Square Garden. Of course, following that announcement — and the subsequent pre-sale debacle, which saw scalpers snatch up tickets to such a degree that fans were left empty-handed — Murphy also decided to play a run of four shows at another venue, Terminal 5 (or, as he put it, "F--- you, scalpers"), in the days leading up to that MSG show.
And now, having run through those shows — which, according to anyone who managed to get a ticket, ranged between "revelatory" and "holy sh--, LCD were so good I seriously had an aneurism" — Murphy and his band are gearing up for that MSG gig, their honest-to-goodness last show ever, set for Saturday.

So, with Murphy preparing to wave goodbye, MTV News decided to take a look back at our last interview with him, which took place in June 2007 at his DFA studio just as he was gearing up to release LCD's second album, Sound of Silver. And, as is always the case any time Murphy sat down in front of our cameras, he was candid, charming and — most of all — self-effacing.
"I really wanted to make the same record again; legally, though, it had to be different songs," he said of Silver. "So, basically, this new one is nine songs [all the] same thing. There's almost like a parallel to each song on the first record. I don't know if people will like it. I don't care."
Of course, people did (they liked the follow-up, 2010's This Is Happening, too), but at the time, Murphy wasn't exactly worried about what people would think of his albums; he was more concerned with trying to balance the load that comes with fame.
"I'd like to make a bunch of albums. ... I'm 37, so I'm going to have to tour less to do that. I'm already old. I don't want to be 'old dude,' " he smiled. "I just like being a person. Going to dinner, going to work, having kids, that kind of stuff. I just want to figure out how to be what I am — how to be DFA guy and LCD guy — in a way I find pleasing. I kind of think people don't know what they're doing. Maybe I have to work on my ringtones or something."
And somewhat inevitably, the conversation finally turned to the very future of LCD itself. And, somewhat tellingly, nearly four years before he'd officially announce that MSG show, Murphy was already making plans to retire the mantle altogether — though, as for what would replace it, he had no ideas. And he was fine with that.
"I think in a lot of ways the band itself, in some ways, it's really simple ... it's just kind of dumb, and it's the same thing over and over to a certain degree, and the guy doesn't sing that well, and ... it seems engaging to me — like, it's something I would like," he said. "I feel like this is a funny thing to do, and it seems kind of missing, so I just kind of keep doing it, until somebody does it better, and then I'll just stop, or I'll just go do something else."

Blake Lively 'Thrilled' To Be Part Of 'Green Lantern'

'I'm actually a really big comic book movie geek,' she tells MTV News.By Kara Warner, with reporting by Josh Horowitz

Blake Lively

Actress Blake Lively is perhaps most recognizable from her role as spoiled rich kid Serena Van Der Woodsen on the CW's steamy teen soap "Gossip Girl." However, in just a couple of months, Lively will be seen by a whole new audience via her leading-lady role as Carol Ferris alongside Ryan Reynolds in "The Green Lantern."
When MTV News caught up with Lively during a "Green Lantern" event at CinemaCon, we asked if she considers herself a fangirl or whether she would be lining up to see the highly anticipated comic book movie adaptation if she weren't in it.

"I'm actually a really big comic book movie geek," Lively revealed. "I didn't read comics ever. I'm not a boy; I don't know if you can tell," she joked. "I was saying I never wanted to be an actor, so I would watch these superhero movies and come out and want to crawl up walls or do these karate kicks or fly or whatever it is."
Lively went on to say that she never thought she would be in a comic book movie and that when she found out she landed the part, she was as giddy as a schoolgirl and hoped she'd get to do a lot of stunt work.
"For me, I was like a kid when I found out I got this [role]. I was like, 'What kind of stunts am I going to do?' I was thrilled to be a part of it," she said. "I've always loved these kinds of movies. I do think, I know everybody says this, but I do think it's different."

Perez Hilton Reveals Birthday Wishes For Lady Gaga, Anti-Bullying

Celeb blogger blew out the candles at his Blue Ball Birthday Bash, telling MTV News he'll donate event proceeds to an LGBT charity.By Kelley L. Carter

LOS ANGELES — Perez Hilton had two wishes for his birthday this year.
The 33-year-old blogger, who celebrated in grand Hollywood fashion on Saturday night at a Sunset Boulevard studio in Los Angeles, says that if he has his way, two things will come to pass: Lady Gaga's Born This Way will be a super hot-selling album and teen bullying will cease.

"My birthday wish for this year is for Lady Gaga's new album, Born This Way, to sell over 1.2 million copies the first week," he said, pausing to give off a mock-sinister laugh. "That would beat Taylor Swift's 1.1-something!"
That was actually the only kind-of-mean thing the notorious blogger said at his Blue Ball Birthday Bash on Saturday. And it could be the last. Perez said he has cleaned up his act, largely due to the teen bullying that's been well-documented over the past year.
"When there was that rash of gay teenagers committing suicide last year, and the bullying that is still going on, I was so moved. So moved that I changed how I operate on my website. When it came time to do my birthday, the idea came to me to raise money for charity and, of course, I wanted it to be a LBGT organization. And of course it was important for to work with one for young people," he told MTV News.
So what does that kind of change mean? For starters, it means Perez may not have to duck celebrities anymore. He's been trying to stick to the facts, he said, and do less of the ad-libs like drawing on their paparazzi photographs. He also opened up about how he apologized to Jennifer Aniston for how he treated her over the years on his blog.
"The great thing about being the new and more positive Perez is that I, hopefully, will be having less awkward, uncomfortable, negative confrontations with people," he said. "But hey, I'm a big boy. I've done things in the past I'm not that proud of."
What do you think of Perez's birthday wishes? Tell us in the comments!

'Source Code': The Reviews Are In!

See what critics are saying about the Jake Gyllenhaal-starring sci-fi film.By Eric Ditzian

Michelle Monaghan and Jake Gyllenhaal in "Source Code"

Photo: Summit Entertainment

The beginning of March brought us a well-reviewed sci-fi movie in "The Adjustment Bureau." The first day of April gifts us with a far superior, and deservedly better-reviewed, genre flick called "Source Code."
Here's the funny thing (and the enduring, head-scratching nature of the box office): The new movie, starring Jake Gyllenhaal, isn't likely to pull in more bucks over its opening weekend than Matt Damon's "Bureau" ($21.2 million). That's a shame, because more people than are expected to buy tickets — experts are predicting around $15 million in receipts — should check out "Source Code," the second feature from Duncan Jones ("Moon"). But don't just take it from us. Check out what the critics are saying about the film:

The Story
"Army Captain Colter Stevens (Jake Gyllenhaal) awakens on a commuter train heading to Chicago, and doesn't know where he is. He finds the delightful Christina (Michelle Monaghan) sitting across from him. ... Colter doesn't know — and neither do we — that he's part of a highly classified military research project and has been sent into the immediate past to find out who bombed that train. The 'source code' — a kind of shorthand for computer shorthand — is given a breezy but satisfying enough explanation by its inventor (Jeffrey Wright), but what it does, basically, is provide Colter with an eight-minute window, in a parallel reality, to find the bomber and prevent what is expected to be a subsequent terrorist attack on Chicago itself." — John Anderson, The Wall Street Journal
The Performances
" 'Source Code' clicks along with swift, crisp tension, with Gyllenhaal delivering an assured lead performance as a man at once out of his depth and supremely self-assured. ... Indeed, it's the persuasive turns of all the cast members — within an otherwise preposterous setup — that allow filmgoers to surrender to the propulsive force of 'Source Code.' Monaghan and Farmiga are especially winning as the sympathetic women who coax Stevens along a path that, while preordained, he insists on twisting." — Ann Hornaday, The Washington Post
The Direction
" 'Source Code' is nimbly directed by Duncan Jones, whose 2009 'Moon' was probably the past decade's smartest, most ambitious science-fiction film. Although 'Source Code''s premise is a Philip K. Dick-style mindbender, Jones plays the story straight. The movie triggers memories of those classic Hitchcock suspense stories starring Jimmy Stewart or Cary Grant as a bystander abruptly thrust into life-or-death intrigue. Setting the action on a train gives the story a claustrophobic sense of urgency and a nice thematic resonance: Is Stevens' future also moving with unstoppable momentum on a fixed path?" — Colin Covert, Minneapolis Star Tribune
The Dissenters
" 'Source Code' can't help but come down with the conceptual sillies from time to time. The situation is so preposterous and the characters' attempts to explain it make for such bogus high-tech gobbledygook -- Jeffrey Wright does what he can with the stock role of the crippled Dr. Strangelove behind the experiment -- that you need a weed whacker just to keep sight of the plot. The movie plays with the metaphysics of time and causality, and it gives Gyllenhaal a big Sisyphean rock to push uphill over and over, but in no way does it enter the cosmically profound through the back door the way 'Groundhog Day' did." — Ty Burr, Boston Globe
The Final Word
"Superficially, 'Source Code' plays with some of the same themes as last month's 'The Adjustment Bureau.' But it's made with so much more skill and craft and impact that it's as if that other film were its made-for-TV doppelganger. This is hair-raising, clever and winning entertainment. Even if his protagonists aren't entirely what they seem to be or think they are, Mr. Jones is, it's increasingly clear, the real thing." — Shawn Levy, The Oregonian

Ne-Yo Defends Beyonce 'Dis' Statements

'I'm tired of being nice to dumb people. ... Bottom line, Beyonce is my friend,' 'Irreplaceable' songwriter tweets.By Jocelyn Vena

Ne-Yo

Photo: Mawuse Ziegbe/ MTV News

When a comment from Ne-Yo hit the Internet in which the songwriter said that he wished he could have kept the Beyoncé hit "Irreplaceable" for himself, some took it as a dis to the star.
"One song that I gave away and didn't want to, but it's actually a good thing that I did, is Beyonce's 'Irreplaceable'. I honestly wrote that song for myself, but that song taught me a very interesting lesson: Many women don't think that differently. ... However, a man singing it comes across a little bit misogynistic, a little bit mean," Ne-Yo, who wrote the song, said in an interview.
When it was implied on Twitter that Ne-Yo was dissing the Sasha Fierce star with his comments, the singer/songwriter defended himself. "Aiight my dude. Send me the link to where I said ANYTHING disrespectful about Beyonce, PLEASE! Dying to hear this," he wrote. "Just heard the audio where I supposedly dissed Beyonce. ARE Y'ALL SERIOUS!?! Did y'all even listen to what I said!?!"
Ne-Yo then continued to tweet his anger toward those who misunderstood what he said. "I said I originally wrote the song for me. That's true, so OF COURSE I didn't want to give it away originally. IT WAS FOR ME," he wrote. "Once I realized how the song comes across if sung by a guy, that's when I decided to give it away. HOW IS THAT DISSING BEYONCE!?! She took the song and made it a smash, NOBODY can deny that ...
"You know what? At first I was apologetic about what the hacker said, now that I've heard the audio myself, not so much," he continued. "Y'all should listen a lil' harder before you start dissin' people. Makes you look real dumb. I'm tired of being nice to dumb people. ... Bottom line, Beyonce is my friend. To HELL with anybody that ain't SMART enough to understand what I truly meant."

Lady Gaga's Leaked 'Judas' Lyrics Aren't Quite Real

While some of the lines are legit, others are fabricated, MTV News has learned.By Jocelyn Vena

Lady Gaga

Photo: Tom Briglia/ WireImage

It looks like someone is trying to fool Little Monsters everywhere by posting incorrect lyrics online for Lady Gaga's "Judas." Various versions of lyrics reportedly from the track hit the Internet, and it appears that someone used Gaga's recent Google interview as inspiration.
So far, the only real lyrics from the song are: "When he comes to me, I am ready/ I'll wash his feet with my hair if he needs/ Forgive him when his tongue lies through his brain/ Even after three times, he betrays me/ I'll bring him down, a king with no crown." Gaga previously shared an additional line from the song on Twitter, writing, "I'm just a Holy Fool, oh baby he's so cruel, but I'm still in love with Judas, baby."
From there, someone took all those real lyrics and crafted their own version of the song, which was co-produced by RedOne and the Mother Monster herself. For now, until "Judas" officially drops, fans at least have Gaga's confessions about the track.
"You have to look into what is haunting you and you need to look into forgiving yourself in order to move on," she said about the song, which will be the second single from Born This Way.. "And it's really fun to dance to and sounds like it could be a pop Priest record."
Gaga and her creative director, Laurieann Gibson, will co-direct the video, and Gibson seemed excited about the clip when she spoke to MTV News. " 'Judas' is exciting for me because we had this amazing artistic approach to 'Born This Way,' and I'm so excited for how riveting, energetic and electric the record is, something really phenomenal," Gibson said. "So, visually, the dance, the costuming, the idea of how big we're trying to go, [it's] going to be a roller-coaster ride."

Lady Gaga's 'Judas' Lyrics Hit The Net

The alleged words to Gaga's second Born This Way single find Mother Monster playing with themes of religion and love.By Jocelyn Vena

Lady Gaga

Photo: Tom Briglia/ WireImage

Recently, "Born This Way" producer Fernando Garibay called Lady Gaga's next single off her upcoming album of the same name, "Judas," "great because it's a serious message [and] it's a little playful." Well, judging by the reported lyrics that hit the Internet, the RedOne-produced track is Gaga spilling her heart out with just enough dark humor in it to keep her Little Monsters playing it over and over again.

"Dear Judas/ My beloved you belong to me/ No more backstabbing please/ Your blood colored beads/ Jealousy, envy, insanity," the opening lyrics proclaim, playing on the biblical tale of Judas — the apostle of Jesus who infamously later betrayed him — while possibly referring to a romance gone bad.
On the chorus, Gaga allegedly sings, "When he comes to me, I am ready/ I'll wash his feet with my hair if he needs/ Forgive him when his tongue lies through his brain/ Even after three times he betrays me/ I'll bring him down, a king with no crown/ Judas, look what have you done/ My heart bleeds and you think it's fun?"
The second verse continues to play with the ideas of love and the mythology of Judas. "Second verse, same as the first/ Your bible won't save you now/ From the glares of the everlasting light, remember those hot nights where you lied and lied on my bed/ Stabbed me in the back," Gaga supposedly sings. "Let my blood trickle on your rose thorns/ But he came and whispered in my ear and left me torn/ 'Cause I'm just a holy fool/ Oh baby, he's so cruel, but I'm still in love with Judas, baby."
Gaga will direct the video for "Judas" with her creative director, Laurieann Gibson, who has made it clear that the clip will certainly be over-the-top.
"And 'Judas' is exciting for me because we had this amazing artistic approach to 'Born This Way' and I'm so excited for how riveting, energetic and electric the record is, something really phenomenal," Gibson recently told MTV News. "So, visually, the dance, the costuming, the idea of how big we're trying to go, [it's] going to be a roller-coaster ride.
"What is a traditional music video?" she added. "Even if we go with a traditional music video, the directors that we love are not traditional, so the idea that they get to collaborate with us means they too want to live outside of what people expect a traditional music video to be."
What do you think of the reported lyrics to "Judas"? Share your opinion in the comments.

Britney Spears 'Legitimizes' Pauly D's DJ Career, 'Jersey Shore' Star Says

'Britney Spears is performing her new album at Rain while I'm DJing. I couldn't ask for anything more,' Pauly D says of last Friday's Vegas gig.By Jocelyn Vena

Shortly after it was announced that Pauly D would be the resident DJ at Rain nightclub at the Palms Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, the "Jersey Shore" star was bestowed with another honor: He was to DJ Britney Spears' surprise gig in Las Vegas, which was taped for her MTV special "Britney Spears: I Am the Femme Fatale," airing Sunday at 9 p.m. ET.

"For me, I love Las Vegas, I love DJing. It's my heart. I locked down this huge residency, which I always wanted, and now I find out Britney Spears is performing her new album at Rain while I'm DJing. I couldn't ask for anything more," Pauly D dished to MTV News last Friday.
"I'm at Las Vegas now. What it means to DJ a concert like a Britney Spears concert or something like that, it's an association with monsters like Britney Spears and it just legitimizes your career. And it's just fun like being onstage with Britney Spears performing like she's performing. I love it. I couldn't ask for more."
Given that Pauly D plays a mix of popular music and more underground house, he admits that he doesn't have to change his style up too much for a gig with Spears. "I keep up on music. I keep up on current music. I play everything. I'm open format," he explained. "I play geared to the crowd, so I don't prep my set. For this I go out there, I kind of wing it. I look at the crowd, I have an idea. I like to play the new stuff that's hot. I feed off the crowd."
Pauly also explained the rules he has for his craft. "A DJ should not play the artist's songs at her concert 'cause she has to perform these songs," he said. "I'm not going to be playing any Britney before she performs; maybe after. I'll let her perform, let her shine 'cause it's her night."
The Vegas show is one of many highlights in the "I Am the Femme Fatale" special. Spears gives fans a taste of what it was like making the album, including behind-the-scenes footage of her in the studio with will.i.am and an intimate chat with Sway Calloway in which she opens up about her life and her career.
To see what Spears has to say about her new album and watch her as she puts the finishing touches on it, don't miss the "Britney Spears: I Am the Femme Fatale" special, airing Sunday, April 3, at 9 p.m. ET on MTV.

'Justin Bieber: Never Say Never' has outgrossed MJ's 'This Is It' in U.S.By Gil Kaufman

Michael Jackson may have dubbed himself the King of Pop, but the late icon didn't hold the box-office crown for long. Less than a year after the posthumous MJ documentary "This Is It" became the most successful concert-themed film in U.S. history, Justin Bieber is poised to snatch the mantle.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, "Justin Bieber: Never Say Never" has earned $72.2 million in domestic box office so far, passing Jackson's $72.1 million haul. And while Bieber has racked up those impressive numbers in just six weeks, he's got a long way to go before he laps the global receipts for the MJ doc.
"This Is It" has grossed $189.1 million overseas for a global total of $261.2 million. Music films don't typically play well overseas, and THR noted that "Never Say Never" has grossed a more modest $10.8 million overseas so far, with Paramount executives predicting that it could top out around $20 million internationally.
The impressive U.S. numbers were likely goosed by the re-release of the film recently with 40 additional minutes of bonus footage from director Jon M. Chu. Bieber still has a little way to go to climb the list of the top-grossing documentaries of all time. "Never Say Never" is currently stalled out at the #3 position, around $5 million behind "March of the Penguins," according to Box Office Mojo, and well short of the all-time record held by Michael Moore's "Fahrenheit 9/11," which has taken in $119.1 million to date.
Bieber set off a classic MJ-style fan frenzy a few weeks ago when he visited Liverpool, England, for his world tour. And just a week later, he posed with his new wax figure at London's Madame Tussauds, checking off another item on the list of milestones to an MJ-like career.

Anna Chapman: Agent provocateur

When she was arrested in an FBI sting in a Manhattan coffee shop last June on charges of espionage, it looked like Anna Chapman would disappear into obscurity in Russia. Less than a year later she's the darling of the country's media, has her own TV show and is tipped as a rising star of the political rightAnna Chapman, the "sultry Russian secret agent" who hit the headlines last year after being exposed as a deep-cover operative in the United States, says she bears no ill will towards the man who betrayed her. And why should she? Since being freed as part of a dramatic spy swap deal in Vienna in July 2010, the flame-haired daughter of a Russian career diplomat has rarely been out of the limelight, taking up a number of lucrative job offers and positioning herself for a move into big-time politics. "It was the start of something great and beautiful," Chapman gushed on a recent Russian TV show. Or, as she puts it on her newly launched website: "The day I returned to Moscow was my second birthday."It wasn't hard to predict that only good things awaited Chapman once she was safely back in Russia. The country's all-powerful premier, Vladimir Putin, had said that Chapman and her former comrades would "work in worthy places" and have "bright, interesting lives"."Every single one of these people has gone through a difficult time? in the interests of their homeland," said Putin, the ex-KGB officer. And while a number of her former colleagues have reportedly been rewarded with cushy posts at state-run companies, it is Chapman's star that has risen by far the highest.A month after their deportation, Putin joined up with the failed spies for a karaoke-type evening, where they crooned together the Soviet-era song ? and unofficial Russian intelligence service anthem ? "From Where the Motherland Begins". After that cosy night out, things moved fast for Chapman. She was awarded a top state honour by President Dmitry Medvedev, posed for erotic ? and lucrative ? photos for men's magazines, and was handed her own primetime TV show. She did, however, turn down a role in a porn film, despite being offered a "substantial" fee by the Vivid Entertainment adult-film company.Chapman has also been made the face of the ruling United Russia party's youth movement and has been tipped to win a seat in parliament in upcoming elections. On top of all this, she has registered her surname as a trademark; has brought out a poker app and a slew of Chapman-own products, including perfume, watches and vodka, is expected to hit the shops soon. The 29-year-old provincial Russian also has a Max Clifford-type agent to handle "commercial projects", which include highly paid interviews and photo shoots. The irony is, of course, that Anna Chapman is being rewarded for doing her job badly. Not only was she duped by the FBI into blowing her cover, but she apparently failed to turn up any useful information for Moscow. Espionage charges were not brought against a single member of the spy ring, as there was no indication that any classified information had been accessed. Prosecutors instead had to settle for charges of "failure to declare foreign agent status" and money laundering. Chapman and the other nine agents were exchanged for just four American spies. As US vice president Joe Biden put it: "We got back four really good ones. And the 10, they've been here a long time, but they hadn't done much."Unlike Britain, with its traditional fondness for incompetence, Russia has never been known for its willingness to celebrate defeat. Is Chapman's unlikely fame an indication of a startling new Russian mindset? Not quite. In an Orwellian feat of reinterpretation, dominant state-run media outlets have portrayed the Chapman saga as a feelgood story, her life held up as something to be envied, aspired to. Over New Year, the Channel One TV station ran a This is Your Life-style tribute to Chapman, described by the host as "without any exaggeration, the woman of the year". The programme kicked off with shaky home-video footage of the spy-to-be as a Soviet schoolgirl reciting poetry and giggling into the camera before Chapman herself, dressed in a figure-hugging green outfit, strode into the studio to warm applause from the audience. "I have to say, you look even better than in your photos," the host enthused. During the hour-long programme, Chapman's childhood friends, grandmother and "first love" were all rolled out to pay tribute, and Chapman had the good grace to blush a red as deep as her hair. "She is worthy of applause because she worked abroad for our nation," a celebrity guest ? Soviet-era TV star Anna Shatilova ? exclaimed.Chapman didn't give much away during the show, sticking to clich and aphorism for the most part. When asked about her deportation from the US, she replied: "I believe that everything that happens is for the best." She did, however, drop a hint about a possible new television role. "Watch your screens next year," she advised viewers. "I'll reveal all the secrets."This turned out to be her catchphrase as presenter of Mysteries of the World with Anna Chapman, a weekly "investigative" show that launched in January. "The most mysterious woman in Russia presents the most mysterious show," the programme's producer Mikhail Tukmachev promised in promo ads.In the first episode Chapman looked into claims that verses from the Koran had been appearing on the skin of a young boy from Russia's North Caucasus republic of Dagestan. Not that Chapman actually visited the volatile region, home to more than 50% of terrorist attacks in Russia in 2010. For that a ? presumably expendable ? male reporter was dispatched, leaving Chapman to pop up on the screen every now and then in an eye-catching red and black outfit. Subsequent shows have seen similar studio-based investigations by Chapman into topics including demonic possession and the fate of St Petersburg's famous lost Amber Room, which disappeared after being looted by Nazi troops in the Second World War. In case you were wondering, she didn't find it.Ren TV, one of the few non state-run television companies left in Russia, screens the show. But producer Tukmachev denies that the appearance of a figure with obvious Kremlin connections is a sign that the channel is slowly losing whatever modicum of independence it may enjoy. "Nothing has changed at the channel since the arrival of Chapman," he tells me. "As you can see, there is nothing political about the programme at all."The idea for the show came about quite spontaneously," Tukmachev adds. "I was having a meeting with Chapman, and we came up with the theme of mysteries ? one that both of us find interesting. She had no previous experience, of course, but she learns quicker than most."But why did the show's glamorous presenter not get out and about and try to uncover the truth herself? Why was she largely confined to a sterile Moscow studio?"Well, she can't do everything," Tukmachev says. And yet, not CONTENT with conquering the world of show business, Chapman is also carving out a career for herself as a politician. In late 2010 she joined the leadership of Molodaya Gvardiya (Young Guard), the youth wing of Putin's United Russia. The movement ? along with a similar group called Nashi (Ours) ? is widely viewed as a potential Kremlin weapon against what officials here nervously call the "orange scenario", a reference to the street protest-inspired revolution that swept pro-western politician Viktor Yushchenko to power in neighbouring Ukraine in 2004. In 2005 the then-Nashi leader Vasily Yakemenko announced that if such a thing were ever to occur in Russia he would make one call to his "colleagues in the Spartak Moscow FC fan movement", and they would "assemble 5,000 of their supporters to chase away those who came out on the streets in support of western-backed politicians".Moscow remains nervous about the possibility of an Egypt-style uprising. Young Guard was recently instructed by Kremlin ideologist Vladislav Surkov to get ready for the 2011 parliamentary and 2012 presidential polls. "Prepare yourselves for the elections, and train your brains and your muscles," he told group members at a meeting in Moscow in December. "The polls must be won by Medvedev, Putin and United Russia." Surkov's pep talk came shortly after Young Guard had posted images of a number of "traitor" journalists on its website with the words "Will Be Punished" stamped on them. One of the journalists, Oleg Kashin, who had written extensively about pro-Kremlin and United Russia youth groups, was later beaten almost to death outside his home by unidentified assailants. Young Guard denied any involvement and took Kashin's photo off its site.Naturally this unpleasantness was missing from Chapman's debut speech at a Young Guard congress late last year. A wisp of hair hanging over one eye, a smiling Chapman urged some 2,000 delegates to "transform the future, starting with ourselves". "If all of us were joyful, we could do something useful and new," she continued over the low-level buzz of chatter. "There would," she revealed, "be less negativity in society if every single one of us woke up with a smile on our face." Chapman declined to reveal how Russians were to put aside the country's most crippling problems ? corruption, alcoholism and rampant police brutality, to name just three ? and start the day with a ready-made grin. She made a speedy exit, avoiding waiting journalists with the "deftness of a former secret agent", as one blogger put it. The speech was much played on Russian TV.Like her political message, Chapman's role in the Young Guard movement has so far been unclearly defined. One week she is helping to "educate the youth of Russia" and "increase patriotism", while the next she is advising on "business issues" or "modernisation". Young Guard leader Timur Prokopenko dubbed his newest recruit "a hero of her generation". I call him to clarify. "Well, her biography and everything that has been written about her has made her very popular ? a hero ? among students and young girls," he tells me. But did he share their attitude? "As the leader of a youth organisation," he replies tactfully, "I am obliged to support their opinion."Chapman may not be confined to youth politics for long. United Russia has pencilled her in as a candidate for December's parliamentary polls, and she is expected to stand ? and win ? in her hometown of Volgograd, formerly Stalingrad. "The party needs young beautiful girls," senior United Russia official Frants Klintsevich commented. "She can bring more supporters with her. She's a smart, sharp person." Or as former newsreader and political analyst Samir Shakhbaz told me: "She's kind of a role model, and she has lots of fans. She lived the dream of many young people here to be a 007-type figure, or at least the Russian version of it."United Russia's ranks are already swelling with celebrities, from footballers Andrei Arshavin and Roman Pavlyuchenko to a host of domestic pop and rock stars. One famous face Chapman will not be meeting at rallies, however, is former Bolshoi Theatre prima ballerina Anastasia Volochkova, who angrily quit the party last month. "They weren't interested in any projects I suggested," she explained. "They just used me to advertise the party. And I have no desire to prostitute myself." In Chapman ? dubbed "Agent 90-60-90" by Russian tabloids because of her centimetre figure measurements ? United Russia has a ready-made replacement for the glamorous Volochkova. And one that ? for now at least ? has no objections to being used solely for her looks and fame. But despite her ubiquity, it's arguable whether Chapman is popular among ordinary Russians. As ever in this country, it's the internet where people's true feelings find a voice. And Russia's assorted bloggers and message-board users seem to be unequivocal in their disdain."Citizen of the world Anna Chapman is undoubtedly the major hero of our vast country," writes one user on Live Journal ? Russia's most popular blogging platform. "We all also dream of dropping our knickers abroad and stealing enemy secrets." "A true symbol of our time!" offers another. "How we need such people! Those ready to join whatever they are told to! To sleep with whomever they are told to!" Other comments are more explicit, involving combinations of the words "Putin" and "whore".Ex-spies are supposed to disappear quietly, and Chapman's lust for publicity has upset many former members of the Russian intelligence community. "No real professional would act like this. It's a disgrace to see how she is cashing in on her past," an ex-operative said on the day of her television debut. "After all," he added, after insisting on anonymity, "it's not like she did anything she should be proud of."It can seem that Chapman has been thrust upon the Russians. But it's not so easy to fathom why. Is she simply a sharp operator who has skilfully turned disaster into triumph? Or is she being manipulated, willingly or otherwise, by the powers that be? For now Chapman is giving almost nothing away. Not for free, anyhow.Marc Bennetts is the author of Football Dynamo (Virgin Books) and is now writing a book about Russia's fascination with the occultAnna ChapmanTelevision industryRussiaEuropeUnited StatesTelevisionVladimir PutinDmitry MedvedevJoe BidenCelebrityguardian.co.uk © Guardian News & Media Limited 2011 | Use of this content is subject to our Terms & Conditions | More FeedsAlec Baldwin Kiefer Sutherland Tina Fey Kate Moss Eva Longoria Parker

Lady Gaga's Leaked 'Judas' Lyrics Aren't Quite Real

While some of the lines are legit, others are fabricated, MTV News has learned.By Jocelyn Vena

Lady Gaga

Lupe Fiasco may be a man about the world now — check his past single "Paris, Tokyo" — but back when the Chicago MC was a teenager, he was only a local explorer.
"When I was 17, I worked at this restaurant that was behind my house," Lupe says during the latest episode of "When I Was 17," airing at 11 a.m. Saturday on MTV. "It was literally my house, the alley, work. I used to jump over my back fence, and I was in the parking lot of my job. I was the short-order cook. It was fast food. It was really crappy. I would work 40 hours a week, and it was 60 bucks. I remember trying to get my homeys jobs there, and they would be like, 'Are you stupid? I'm not working for 60.' "

"We had better things to do than work at a restaurant," Fiasco's friend Doughboy said. "Especially when we knew how much he got paid and how long he had to be there."
The Lasers MC maintained he had a plan that his friends couldn't quit comprehend. He knew he was underpaid, but he decided he would get his due by way of his stomach, if not his wallet.
"They didn't see my vision: I didn't have to pay for any food," he said. "I ate the rest of my salary that I thought I deserved."
His plan, however, wasn't approved by management, and Lupe wasn't afraid to voice his displeasure.
" 'Well, you should pay me some more and I'll stop!' " he recalled telling his boss.
"When I Was 17" — this week featuring Jessie J, Tyrese and Lupe Fiasco — airs Saturday at 11 a.m. on MTV.

Beyonce, Leonardo DiCaprio Lead Flurry Of Movie Remakes

Russell Brand, Willow Smith, Jonah Hill are just a few stars looking to revamp film and TV classics like 'Arthur', 'Annie' and '21 Jump Street.'By Terri Schwartz

What do Willow Smith and Beyoncé have in common with Leonardo DiCaprio, Jonah Hill and Kenny Wormald? They're all starring (or in talks to star) in the latest round of remakes of beloved films and TV shows coming down the pike.
On Thursday, news broke that Beyoncé would be starring in a Clint Eastwood-directed remake of the 1976 Barbra Streisand classic "A Star Is Born" (which was a remake of a 1954 movie that remade a 1937 film). In the meantime, Will Smith is reportedly petitioning Sony to remake "Annie" (the 1982 movie and 1977 musical) starring his 10-year-old daughter, Willow, best known for whipping her hair.
In October it was announced that Leonardo DiCaprio and best bud Tobey Maguire would be starring in Baz Luhrmann's 3-D retelling of F. Scott Fitzgerald's novel "The Great Gatsby," with Carey Mulligan joining as Daisy Buchanan.
Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum have been working on bringing the '80s Johnny Depp-starring television series "21 Jump Street" to the big screen since 2008, and they might even get Depp to cameo in it in time for the film's March 16, 2012, release date.
And let's not forget the long hunt for a Ren McCormack (the character Kevin Bacon made famous in 1984), after Zac Efron and Chace Crawford dropped out of the planned "Footloose" remake that finally landed dancer Kenny Wormald the role of his life.
Then there's "Arthur," the Russell Brand-starring remake of the 1981 screwball comedy about a happily drunk millionaire who risks everything for love. The film has tapped everyone from Helen Mirren to Greta Gerwig and Nick Nolte.
Two recently announced remakes are "Lethal Weapon" and "The Wizard of Oz," which are still in early development and without stars attached. Warner Bros. announced their plans to reboot the Mel Gibson-starring franchise on Thursday and tapped writer Will Beall to pen the script with completely new characters. And director Robert Zemeckis announced back in November that he planned on remaking the 1939 Technicolor classic using the script from the original film, with Warner Bros. hoping Robert Downey Jr. will play Oz.
Just this past year, films from "Clash of the Titans" to "The Karate Kid" to "A Nightmare on Elm Street" were remade for the big screen and were well-received by audiences. "Alice in Wonderland" and "Clash of the Titans" went on to become two of the top 10 highest-grossing films of 2010, while "Piranha 3D" and "The A-Team" also went on to strong successes, proving that there definitely is a market for these kinds of remakes.

Sara Cox's other passion: organic food

Sara Cox talks about going organic, her doomed vegetable patch, and her favourite foods.I started to think about my diet and issues like organic food during my first pregnancy, about seven years ago. Like most women, I suppose being responsible for the nutrition of a little person for the first time focused my mind on what exactly I was putting into my (and their) body.I'm obsessed by food and flavours. I love roast dinners, simple avocado salads, spicy Vietnamese papaya salad, all fish and seafood, a good steak... my mum makes an amazing ham shank broth and I think that's definitely a contender for first prize. My favourite organic recipe is probably a huge batch of chilli con carne cooked with organic low fat British minced beef, tons of kidney beans, tomatoes and baked beans. The kids love it and I freeze it in loads of mini portions.I feel happier that the food I give my family has less pesticides or hormones in it. I think what products one chooses to buy organic is a very personal "gut-feeling" decision. Foods we get through loads of (chicken, milk, cheese, green veg, eggs) and food I rinse quickly under the tap before giving to my kids (blueberries, strawberries) seems better if it's organic. Give me a knobbly misshapen organic strawberry over the weirdly uniform and perfectly shiny non-organic ones any day.My mum taught me about good food and looking after yourself and I want to do the same for my kids. Lola already knows how good food affects your "bones, skin, brain and your insides" and she's aware of avoiding chemicals in food. Of course she has pick & mix and loads of rubbish at the cinema as a treat, but she usually chooses good stuff the rest of the time. Also, coming from a farming background, it's important they know about where food comes from. Organic often goes hand in hand with better farming standards too.Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall is very cool. I love how he rears, slaughters, then cooks his animals. I've recently discovered Leon too, which is my new obsession. My food villain is salt. I'd love to be have the odd ready meal as a lazy treat, but some contain 33% of your salt intake! i just cant do it to myself! Also I hate drinks aimed at kids that are loaded with aspartame and other sweeteners.I tried growing my own veg but was rubbish at it. My tomatoes got blight and a trampoline now sits on the turfed-over veg patch.I try my best to live greenly. We're very good with the recycling, I drive a hybrid, nag the kids about wasting water and I'm constantly turning off lights, TVs and other electrical stuff. I'm holidaying in UK this Easter. I like my house to stay quite cool. It's my Northern blood and it drives my Southern other half mad.If I had to sum up my green credentials in just five words, they'd be: not perfect but trying hard.To anyone thinking of going organic, I'd say just choose one or two things at first, some lovely vine tomatoes or some proper sausages. Choose what's important to you and what your budget allows.Sara is currently working with the Organic Trade Board on the Why I Love Organic campaign. Britney Spears' MTV Special Is 'For The Fans,' Manager Says

'I want them to know that Britney is back and better than ever,' Larry Rudolph tells MTV News.By Jocelyn Vena

Britney Spears performs "Till the World Ends" at Rain nightclub in the Palms Las Vegas

Photo: Roderick Trestrail

Britney Spears gives fans an inside look at her life and the making of her latest album in the MTV special "Britney Spears: I Am the Femme Fatale."
MTV News has of course been tracking the release of her record, which finally dropped on Tuesday, but we were also on hand as she performed in Las Vegas at the Palms' Rain nightclub. Fans will get to see the show — and much more — for themselves when the special airs on Sunday, April 3, at 9 p.m. ET on MTV.

When we spoke to Spears' longtime manager, Larry Rudolph, in Vegas, he told us Brit wanted to put on a spectacle for her fans. She wanted to take her first Femme Fatale live performance to Vegas because much like the city, Spears' concerts have lots of sparkle, pyro and razzmatazz, he explained.
"We chose this place; we chose the Palms because the Palms is where Britney has so much history," he said. "We performed here with the Britney album, we did a similar thing. We're doing this eight years later now and we're doing it for the fans."
Rudolph stressed that Spears has one main goal: to entertain her fans in the Femme Fatale era. "For her, it was really important to do it for the fans the first time she was out there," he explained. "To do it here in Las Vegas, where everything is bigger and everything is more exciting and the fans are here for her, this was the place to do it.
"I want them to know — when the fans watch this — I want them to know that Britney is back and better than ever, not that she's ever gone anywhere," he continued. "But she's back and she's better than ever."
Don't miss "Britney Spears: I Am the Femme Fatale" on Sunday, April 3, at 9 p.m. ET on MTV.

Katy Perry's 'E.T.' Video Premieres -- Watch It Now!

New clip with Kanye West is a big-budget spectacle that takes Perry to the next level.By James Montgomery

We've seen Katy Perry camp it up in "California Gurls" and go glam in "Thinking of You" and "Teenage Dream," but we've never seen her get extraterrestrial — until now, of course.

Because in her new video for "E.T." — which premiered Thursday (March 31) on MTV.com — Perry plays the titular alien: a swirling, shifting, otherworldly being who crashes to earth to resurrect a long-dormant love and, in the process, perhaps reboot the human race (since, as is often the case with sci-fi exploits, planet Earth has undergone some sort of cataclysmic apocalypse and is now bereft of life). At least, I think that's the plot of the thing, though, really, it's not all that important if I'm wrong. Find out the full story tonight on "MTV First: Katy Perry's 'E.T.'," which bows on air at 7:53 p.m. ET before tossing to an MTV.com live stream, featuring MTV News correspondent Sway's exclusive chat with Perry, an interview with director Floria Sigismondi and reaction from Perry's fans.
"E.T." is a huge-looking, quick-moving blockbuster of a clip, overflowing with eye-catching special effects, opulent costumes and artfully applied makeup (and Kanye cameos), the kind of production where a plot is basically an afterthought. In other words, it's a Hollywood-level spectacle, a summer smash that just so happened to come out in the early days of spring. It's an event.
And really, with each #1 single she notches, it's the kind of clip Katy Perry has earned, one that puts her on par with other pop megastars like Britney and Gaga in the sheer scope of the production.
Working with acclaimed director Floria Sigismondi, Perry has created a video that certainly ranks among her very best and is unquestionably the biggest thing she's ever done, a production preceded by glossy teaser clips and online "abductions." The mind boggles at the cost of the wardrobe and hair extensions alone.
But, much like the plot, none of that really matters. "E.T." is less about the insignificant details and more about the larger picture — a video that not only moves Perry to the upper echelon, but looks and sounds great. It's a widescreen, THX-ian type of thing, meant to be marveled at. Whether or not you do, you can't deny that KP has earned the right to make it. She's finally arrived: fallen from the heavens to take her rightful place among the elite. Welcome our new alien overlord.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley: CinemaCon's Star of Tomorrow

Everywhere she goes she?s the center of attention, and last night (March 31) Rosie Huntington Whiteley had all the boys drooling at the 2011 CinemaCon awards.
The ?Transformers: Dark of the Moon? actress looked stunning in a strapless black floor-length dress as she posed at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas before taking the stage to collect the Female Star of Tomorrow trophy.
Having begun her career as a model, Rosie told press making the transition to acting has come with its own set of challenges.
?You have to unlearn everything you know as a model. As an actress you have to be unselfconscious and being a great model is being conscious of your body and conscious of what you?re selling. It?s a double-edged sword, it helps and it doesn?t help.?
