Relief pours in after "Slumdog Millionaire" actress Rubina Ali and 2,000 neighbors lost their all
On Friday March 4 a fire in the Bandra East slum of Garib Nagar gutted over 2,000 shanties and huts destroying the possessions and livelihoods of hundreds of families.
Amongst the victims of the fire was Rubina Ali, one of the child stars of Danny Boyle?s Oscar-winning movie ?Slumdog Millionare.? Although her family was uninjured she, like many, laments the loss of all her possessions and her awards.
While the cause of the fire is not known, civilian relief efforts have been overwhelming. read more
